We, of course, had to go with a Valentine’s theme for our muffin tin meal this week. I had some heart shaped silicone muffin pans I had gotten last year on clearance after the big lovey day. I pulled those out. I had thought I had a mini-heart cookie cutter, but was disappointed to find I did not. Note to self – look in clearance section again this year on Friday! So I did the best with what I had. In true six year old fashion, when I set the meal on the table, Roo had to say, “Not everything is heart shaped.” Thanks for rubbing it in, guy. Here’s our Valentine themed lunch:
In this muffin tin: heart shaped sausage, strawberries, grape tomatoes, a heart shaped slice of cheese, non-heart shaped Goldfish crackers
, and a handful of conversation heart candies.
The boys actually ate just about everything in this meal. Roo cleaned his tin and Monkey just left most of his Goldfish. This does not surprise me. That kid will love Goldfish, then as soon as I buy the huge carton size of them, he doesn’t like them. Shortly after I have to throw a third of the carton out because the crackers got stale, he will beg for Goldfish again. Sigh. This is our life.
Any special Valentine’s food you’re making for your littles?

Lovely, those candies add a pop of color to the lunch!
Thank you so much! After I read your comment I looked back at the picture and realized they do! Thanks for helping me see that! Haha!
Haha, gotta love how kids just say whatever they think
They definitely do! Absolutely no filter! Haha! Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
We need to get some heart shaped tins! Great lunch!
Thanks so much! My kids love the shaped muffin tins! I always look the day after a holiday – usually can find some seasonal ones on clearance!
My son is the same way over Goldfish! He goes in fits and spurts over different varieties of them, too … sometimes ONLY wanting the Sour Cream & Onion ones or ONLY the Rainbow or ONLY the Pretzel Fishies.
Don’t you love those spurts? We go through those, too. It was the Extreme cheddar for awhile, and then all of a sudden the boys were completely done with those and asking why I never buy the rainbow ones! Good grief!
Oh the Goldfish drama! We have the same issue in our house. I’ve learned to say no to buying them for about 4 months. It builds anticipation and gives them the “forbidden fruit” appeal. Then one day when I give in they’re excited and I look like an awesome mom. Play the game, my friend, play the game;)
Our VDay meal is Cowboy Sandwhiches. T-Ball from 5:15-6:15 makes Thursday Crock Pot day and since BBQ sauce is red… it’s the best I could come up with;) Some of us aren’t meal mavens and muffin tin mamas;)

I get sucked into the Goldfish drama! Haha! I try to avoid the hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup, which doesn’t leave a lot of cracker choices! I like that Goldfish are cheaper than the organic brands!
And don’t you love when practices and classes are right at dinner time? That’s a great idea to make it a crockpot night! And who doesn’t love BBQ? Sounds perfect for Valentine’s!
This is super cute! Thank you for sharing at Party In Polka Dots! I am happy to tell you that this sweet lunch is being featured!
