Participating in Five Minute Friday! Today’s word is:
Bare
Often times, the cutest, the most heart touching parts are the ones that are bare.
The tiny baby toes sticking out of the blanket. The ones you can never keep the socks on and seem too tiny to be real. Those are the only toes I love. I hate feet – mine, my husband’s, anyone’s – except for those bare baby toes.
And those bare little bottoms, fresh out of the tub, running down the hall, away from the diaper and the jammies. Nothing is sweeter than those round cheeks and the sound of laughter cutting through the heavy, steamy air.
The bare chest, covered with dark hair, that I rest my head on in the dark of the night. Sometimes in afterglow, other times in restful peace, sometimes in tearful sorrow. But that warm and solid spot is always a refuge. A place I find my calm and my support.
Those bare parts are more than just cuteness and skin. They are the essence of those I love. They are their bodies, stripped of everything and bare in a way only those closest to them know. They are my view of a little secret between me and my loves.
End

Love your post Beth … Yes, those bare baby parts are the best. Thinking of my grandbabies now
Thank you so much, Phyllis! There is nothing quite like this little bare baby parts, is there? And it must be so much more fun from the grandparent side – kind of like seeing the past, present, and future all at once!
Thanks for stopping by and commenting!
Oh. This is lovely, indeed. What a profound and yet delightfully simple way of reflecting on “bare.” I love how you flesh it out here, in the essence of the ones you love. I’m happy to have read this today.
Thank you so much, Amber! Happy to have had you stop by today!
Profound, lovely, simple and perfectly said. Those kid buns get even cuter and sillier and the cause of even more laughs as they get older and become the object of dance parties! Love it!

Thanks so much Vicky! We have already started snickering when our boys start shakin’ their booties!
