The more Muffin Tin Meals I make, the more my children think I can make a Muffin Tin for any theme. While I certainly consider this a compliment, I am often a little afraid I won’t be able to live up to their high expectations.
We recently saw The Rise of the Guardians. We all loved the movie. I was also so pleasantly surprised when I was in the bookstore a week or so after seeing it and discovered it is based on a series of books by a much loved author, William Joyce. We have his book, “Santa Calls” and it is one of my very favorite Christmas stories to read to my littles. Anyone that knows me even a little knows that I have trouble walking out of a bookstore without new books for my little men, so I brought home the first in the series, a picture book, titled, “The Man in the Moon.” I also bought the first chapter book in the series, “Nicholas St. North and the Battle of the Nightmare King.” We have absolutely adored both of them and can’t wait to get more books in the series.
So the boys begged for a Rise of the Guardians muffin tin. I had to give it much thought, and some is a bit of a stretch, but here is my take on The Rise of the Guardians:
In this muffin tin: Circle shaped PBJ Sandwich (with a face to be the Man in the Moon), Whipped cream with Graham cracker crumbs (for Sandy the Sandman), Red apple slices and Pear slices (red and green for St. Nicholas), Tooth shaped PBJ sandwich (for the Tooth Fairy), Cheddar Bunnies (for the Easter Bunny), and ice cream with “frosty” sparkles (for Jack Frost).
The boys thought it was awesome! It helped that there were two desserts in it, but hey, it happens sometimes when you’re trying to make a theme work!

Thanks for the great ideas for food! My kids are 10, 11, and 17 and would really get a kick out of that. No matter how old they get it still feels good when Mommy does something special
Thank you and thanks for stopping by! My kids love when I make a muffin tin they requested, I think for that very reason. Just makes them feel special. And thinking about them, fifty years from now, saying to each other, “Remember when mom used to make those lunches…” makes me feel pretty special, too.
And you should check out the Rise of the Guardians book series – I think your 10 and 11 year olds would probably love them!
Very clever way to incorporate the characters! I would have been stumped on the sandman and Jack Frost!
Thank you so much! The sandman did stump me for awhile! I kept thinking of the golden sand he scattered and finally I thought of graham cracker crumbs and the whipped cream was like the clouds. I’m lucky my kids are only six and three – they often don’t notice when I’m stretching to fit the theme!
Looks fun! Very creative!
Thanks so much! And thanks for stopping by!
