And the Liebster Award Goes To…

Christine over at If I Had Anything To Say so kindly nominated me for the Liebster Award! While this isn’t as official as the Oscar’s, or even the People’s Choice, I do think it is a great way to help others discover great blogs that I love to read. Also, I love that the blogger community can be so supportive of one another, and this is just another way to help one another out.

Here’s how the award works: bloggers award other bloggers who they deem as “up and coming” and have less than 200 followers. It’s a nice way to help other bloggers increase their visibility. If you receive a Liebster, you must tell 11 things about yourself, answer 11 questions posed by the nominating blogger, and nominate 11 new bloggers. Then you ask those bloggers 11 questions that they will answer. {Don’t forget to tell the new bloggers you have nominated them!}

11 Things About Me:

1. I have a weird aversion to water on my face. Even in the shower, I try to keep my face out of the water as much as possible.

2. I have seen every single episode of Dawson’s Creek. And while watching the series finale, I may or may not have contemplated making life choices based on it.

3. Even if I am just writing notes for myself, if I start to write it and it looks messy, I will throw the paper out and start over. I know. Neurotic.

4. I haven’t taken my kids to the library in a ridiculously long time because we have an outrageous late fee right now. Just the other day I decided we could go back because we got a letter that they were wiping out late fees if you donated canned goods.

5. I am cold about 90% of my life.

6. Sometimes, when I can’t sleep at night because I am feeling upset at life, I creep into my boys’ room and just stand and look at them. It reminds me that even if I do nothing else in life, I have two amazing accomplishments to be proud of.

7. When I was pregnant, I ate so many sweettart jelly beans, my tongue hurt for two days.

8. There are very few foods I can’t stand. The short list includes cottage cheese, olives, and clams.

9. I can’t stand feet – not even my own. I don’t like touching other people’s feet, I don’t like other people touching my feet, I don’t like other people’s feet touching me. My only exception is my kids, I think because I have known their feet since they were adorable baby feet and still think of them that way.

10. I have recently become addicted to watching Duck Dynasty. I have no idea why I am so amused by this show, but I laugh out loud at times. Can’t get enough of it!

11. My first car was a silver Ford Escort. By the time I sold it, only two of the four doors had functioning door handles. One did not open from the inside, one did not open from the outside.

Christine’s 11 Questions for Me:

1. Why did you start blogging? I heard the saying “Whatever you are doing when you are procrastinating, is probably what you should be doing.” Well, when I was procrastinating, I would read blogs, and imagine what I would write if I had my own blog. Once I started blogging, I realized I had been writing blog posts in my head for awhile. It felt so much more rewarding to actually put them out there!

2. What is your favorite thing about blogging? Being able to have my words and thoughts read by others and mean something to them. I have had people tell me my posts have made them cry or that they could totally relate. I hope my words can help others by offering ideas or letting them know other people feel the same way they do.

3. Did you have a childhood nickname that has stuck? What is it? Never had a nickname. The Coach, on the other hand, has had enough nicknames for the both of us. When I met him his nickname was Coyote. Despite many phone changes since we met, I can’t bring myself to enter him into my phone as anything else. Just makes me smile to see it when he texts or calls. :)

4. What hobby would you do more if you had more time to do it? Reading would top my list. So many good books on my to-read list and I never seem to get enough time to get them. A close second would be scrapbooking. I’m about a year and a half behind in both the boys’ scrapbooks and would love to get closer to caught up!

5. What is your favorite movie? Favorite funny movie might be The Hangover. Favorite inspiring movie would have to be Seabiscuit.

6. Can you speak more than one language? Does sarcasm count as a language? If not, then no.

7. If calories were not a consideration, what’s the thing you would eat most? Hmmm – tough one. I would have to say crackers and cheese or dip. I love any kind of cheese ball or dips like spinach and artichoke, buffalo chicken, etc. I could make a meal out of crackers and dip!

8. What is your favorite season and why? I like the weather and the activities of fall, like football games, apple picking, etc. However, fall is always so busy for us as a family, it tends to take away some of the joy. I like the slower pace and more free time we have in the summer.

9. If you could do anything you wanted with your most favorite person for an entire week, what would you do/where would you go? I would go on a tropical vacation with The Coach. Somewhere like Hawaii or the Caribbean, at an all inclusive resort where all we had to do each day was decide what the day would hold for us!

10. Which would you rather do–fold the laundry, or iron the laundry? Since the only thing my iron has been used for in the last year is putting iron on decals on t-shirts and fusing new fabric to my Roman blinds, I would have to say fold. Not a big fan of ironing!

11. If there were one person who lived before you who you could see & talk with for an hour, who would it be and why? F. Scott Fitzgerald. He was such a brilliant writer and lived what seems an exciting life. But he also had some demons in his life. I would like to ask him if his struggles are what made him a great writer, if they were the reason he wrote, or if he wrote in spite of them.

  1. This is SO FUN! I loved reading everything about you and cracked up that you try not to get water on your face even in the shower! I can’t wait to visit all the blogs you nominated–I’m sure I’ll adore them just as I adore you/yours. Thank you so much for including me–what an honor! :) xxx Merry Christmas, Sweet Blogging Buddy!

  2. That was fun to read! I could make a meal out of crackers and dip (usually hummus), and I often do that for lunch.

    • Thanks! It was actually pretty fun to write! Although it got tough to think of things about myself by the time I got to about 8. Thanks again for the nomination! :)

  3. Awww thank you! I am so honored!

I love to eat crackers and dip too! LOL about the laundry question! My hubby is the ironer in our home… I only iron for crafting purposes. Thanks again! I will post about this Thursday! :)

    • You are welcome! :) To confess – neither of us iron in our house. If something looks a little wrinkled, we toss it in the dryer with a damp washcloth!! Lazy, I know, but it works most times! Haha!I can’t wait to read your post and see your answers! :)
