A Double Muffin Tin Monday! 4th of July and Curious George!

This week I have a double Muffin Tin Monday for you! Since we all had Wednesday off for the 4th of July, I made a semi-Muffin Tin breakfast for the boys.

Happy 4th of July!

I made the boys toast and used red jam, banana slices, and blueberries to make a flag. Then I added mini-muffin cups of raspberries, banana slices, and blueberries. The whole plate was a hit with Roo. Monkey wanted the “stuff” off his toast, then wanted to eat it all separate! Typical toddler!

We also made our usual Muffin Tin Meal for the weekend. I made another book themed meal and used “Curious George Feeds the Animals. ” Here’s the pics:

Curious George Feeds the Animals

Our Curious George meal included Elephant shaped peanut butter and banana sandwiches, peanuts in the shell, “Monkey Munch” (granola), Man with the Yellow Hat cheese, and “Jungle Berries” (blueberries and raspberries).

I was surprised that my boys were not more into this meal. I think it was a combination of tired, hot, and not hungry enough. I had to prod them to eat the sandwich, which I normally don’t have to do. They LOVED the peanuts and loved cracking them open. The cheese was gone in about 30 seconds. The berries and granola I had to prod them along to eat as well. I think if the day had been different, they would have eaten better. But they did love the book and the actual theme of the meal! Can’t win them all, I guess! :)

What fun with food did you have this week?

  1. Great meals!

My grandfather always kept a bag of peanuts for the kids to crack open for a snack. They love them!

    • Thanks! I actually love that my kids are past the age where you can’t give them foods like peanuts and popcorn! So many more fun snack choices now! haha! My boys loved the peanuts! And since they are such a fun and healthy snack, I think we’ll have them around more!

  2. *sigh* My daughter won’t eat peanuts unless they are firmly encased in chocolate (and sometimes not even then!!!) So they are out as a healthy snack here. But I know my girl would have loved your elephants, berries and granola.

    • This was the first time my boys ate any kind of nuts! I think it was the novelty of cracking the shells that got them to try them! I thought they would have loved the granola – it had little bits of dried banana in it and was really sweet. They tried it and weren’t that impressed! Go figure! :)

  3. Both meals look great! My son is huge George fan!
